Brown Another one of those in-my-head things that I had to find in reality. This is an antique blanket chest that was my hope chest. I bought it in my late teens/early twenties to store the dishes and other things my grandmothers had given to me. It is now at the foot of our bed and is the home for our nice/heirloom linens like the quilt I showed you yesterday. Don’t you love dovetail joinery? I love looking at the insides of old drawers to see the pattern. Dovetails certainly are proof that form and function can both be satisfied — so pretty and so strong. These dovetails were cut by hand — I wonder about the man who made them. It’s something I love about handcrafted things — each was born from someone’s hands and imagination. It really is magical.

Thanks Stephanie and Mav for the inspiration for Color Week #2.
