Cotton Candy Bolero

Modeled Bolero
Modeled by Katrina who is bigger than the intended recipient.

So my niece’s birthday was actually last week but her party — and the gift giving — doesn’t happen until today which means the bolero is done, just in time. It actually went pretty quickly, that is, until the end — then it got very stockinette stitch boring. And since I don’t knit 75-80 stitches per minute it took a little while to do the back, especially the widest part with the sleeves. And being boring and all I put off finishing it until the last possible moment which is why it was still drying at 10:00 this morning. Details are below.

Pattern: fluffy bolero from Erika Knight’s simple knits for little cherubs
Yarn: Cascade Bollicine Sissi, in color 101
Yardage: less than one 327yd skein
Needles: US size 5
Gauge: 6.25 st/inch
Modifications: I didn’t make any modifications but there are a number of mis-prints in this pattern that needed correction.

I am making the bolero right now and am on the right side when it seems like it just isn’t going to be right. I was wondering where you found the misprints in the pattern. I’m experienced enough that I’ll go ahead and start the left side and make my own modifcations to the pattern. The place I see a problem is knitting 9 inches on the sleeve and then placing my halfway marker. It seems to make the sleeve far too big for a 3year old’s arms and puts the back of the neck too far away from the shaping for the neck. So, if you could let me know what you did I’d appreciate it.

    Thank You

Thanks again for the help with the bolero. It turned out beautiful. Even if the whole reason I made it was for our Easter weekend out of town and I left it on the bed. My daughter still wears it with everything else.

Thanks and I love your site.
