Tidying Up

Study Shelves

Happy Monday everyone. I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I spent the weekend and most of today cleaning out our study. It’s not finished yet but I can’t tell you how happy I am to have some neat and organized shelves. We’re getting rid of a ton — this may be the actual weight — of books which has been very hard for me. I’m the kind of person who does not check books out of the library, I buy them. This has to do with the selection at my library but I’ll admit it also is that I like to own all those words. We’re finally disposing of a bunch of my college books — kinesiology and music history — that I haven’t looked at in years, like all the years since college. We’re talking about books like the 524 page thriller, Gait Analysis, or the mostly in German, 178 Chorale Harmonizations of Joh. Seb. Bach. I’ve finally admitted that I won’t be referencing them as part of my current job — urchin Mommy — and keeping them is just silly. Same goes for a bunch of books from my days as a software developer — what kind of job do you think you get after studying kinesiology and music history for four years? I’m hoping all this neatening and tidying will spill over into other parts of the house, but not ’till next weekend.

I love that feeling -it’s like a huge weight has lifted. I am also guilty of keeping old textbooks -even ones I didn’t especially like at the time….
I think you have inspired me to go get rid of them! Thank you.

from music history to software developer! hehe I did history and art history and now coordinate the willed body donation program at the university! It is interesting where life leads you.

How wonderful it is to clean up, isn’t it? I’m sure you won’t miss your old books and if you do, think that someone else will be enjoying them.

Good for you! You remind me I have to go back to my clean up plan now that I’m feeling better.
