Corner of My Home

Bleeding Heart

Alicia recently mentioned that she is now requiring all readers of her blog to like bleeding heart — Dicentra — and I’m thinking of instituting the same policy here. To be honest, I’m not sure I was always a fan myself. Rattling around in the back of my brain is this notion that I didn’t used to like this old fashioned flower. I think sentimentality won out though — as it often does in my case — and now I am a fan. The chartreuse leafy stuff in the background is golden creeping jenny — Lysimachia nummularia — which seems to like this shady spot.* The statue is of a girl lying on her stomach reading a book. It was a gift from my parents years ago — they said it reminded them of me. I’m finding recently though, it’s reminding me of someone else.

* Creeping Jenny is invasive in some areas so check with your local nursery or county extension office before planting.
