Summer’s End

Summer — officially here for about another month — seems to be winding down for us. Today we leave for the West to visit Papa’s parents for a week. I’ve got itchy fingers to start some new knitting — like this and this — and my trip to the yarn store yesterday was unsuccessful. I’ll need something to occupy me on our long flight, right? Not like a four-year-old and almost two-year-old will keep me busy. Anyway, yeah, knitting, I’m hoping to do some sweater-type real soon.

The socks are almost done. I’m turning the heel and then just need to zip right down to the toe. I’ll definitely be making more kids’ socks in the future — bought another skein of sock yarn at the yarn store. Tristan keeps putting his foot out every time I try Katie’s on her so I think he’ll get the next pair.

Posting may be sporadic while we’re gone. We’re planning on a lot of swimming in the pool and walking by the river. Opa is going to teach Katie to fish and we might visit a train museum. Have a great Labor Day weekend and we’ll be back next week to kick off Autumn.

Where in the west are you going? If you are anywhere close to the Bay Area, give me a shout! Have a great trip – look up yarn stores in the area – yarn is a perfectly legitimate souvenir.
